Humorous at first sight? What's an elephant doing strolling down the street? Is he lost? No! He's heading straight to your home! Meet the "Elephant In The Room." Do you spot him? What's your own “Elephant in the Room”?
I confront this "Elephant in the room" with a question:
“What's your Elephant in the Room?” “What cause ignites your activism?” “Where and how can you make a personal impact to foster sustainability?” "In our current global context, how can we best express our humanity?"
For me, demonstrating our humanity means showing compassion and exercising care for all beings, big and small, across every corner of our universe - humans, flora, fauna, and all that sustains life.
My Elephant in the room highlights the plight of wildlife. It sheds light on their struggle for survival as human expansion encroaches on their habitats and climate change disrupts spaces and way of living. It underscores the ever-changing environmental landscape.
Acknowledging the elephant in the room is the first step toward recognizing that we inhabit a shared world, where our daily actions and inactions can both positively and negatively affect the environment. By addressing this "Elephant in the Room" (our actions and inactions), we can cultivate a greater awareness of humanity's impact on the Earth and implement changes in our daily habits to ensure that we contribute to sustaining our world rather than degrading it.

I love snow, I love to watch it fall, I love to watch it melt, I love to walk in it, play in it and I love to paint snow. It is not surprising that I am enamored by the bicycles in snow. They look romantic, the dark of the tires against the white of the snow, metal and nature intertwined.
Spending hours with "another's bicycle", I create stories about the owners and riders. Where do they live? Where to they work? What is their commitment to riding? What do they look like? How much motivation does it take to get on a bike in sleet and snow? What is their commitment to this age old eco friendly mode of transportation? Do they ride for pleasure? Do they ride because they are eco conscious?
Regardless of the answers, salute to the committed cyclist! Buses, cars and trucks contribute 19% of the greenhouse gas emissions in the city of Philadelphia, the second highest contributor to emissions as of 2015. So get inspired and walk or bike around this beautiful city.

Flowers in these paintings are either from my garden, community garden I belong to, or collected from the wild. I love their many forms and colors. L

Lemon and Lime still life was set up on my kitchen counter. It took over two weeks to paint. nI continually changed multiple flowers to maintain the original still life. The last details of the light were executed in 10 min sessions, over three days when the morning light temporarily peaked through the north facing window.

“Luke’s Clematis” is named after Luke, for allowing me to pick flowers from his community plot:. A lot of thought went into the choices of color for the background. The aim was to have a visual conflict in the color pattern while maintaining harmony in the entire piece. My favorite part of the painting? Of course the colors and how they relate to each other.

Black Eyed Susans, strange name for a beautiful flower. I pick them by the rail road tracks near my home. Wild flowers have so much character. Don’t you think so? I particularly love this painting because it is a successful study in color. I am a self taught artist and many of my paintings are self taught lessons. This, like “Luke’s Clematis” was a lesson in color harmony.
Yes, I am peeking through the sunflowers! Can you see the stalks and leaves? This painting was executed in one day. Every brush stroke was made with a super clean brush! That just worked like magic!
Oil on Canvas, 20” x 24” $1,400.00
Do you see another painting done at the same location? Again, my kitchen counter. I do have to say, I prefer, sometimes to make up the back ground rather than painting what I see. .The Sweet Peas make up for it though.
A house plant turned still life. A shy experiment in abstract art. I changed the position of the easel multiple times, viewing each flower from prime viewing point. Colors are all that came from within me. A digression. This was the last year that my Anthurium bloomed so beautifully!
One day, Raymond Ercoli (You should look him up) stopped in. A day that I was a little down. He immediately left and returned with a plant of Paper Whites. In a few weeks, they started blooming, still seated on the floor of my studio as I worked around them. .They were too beautiful not to notice and the shadow they cast on my studio wall enhanced their beauty. So here it is. In fact I wrote a poem for them.
And here is an Amaryllis that does not belong to me. I don’t own one …. but then, does anyone really own another living thing? I hope not. This is again, Raymond Ercoli’s plant. (You should look up Raymond Ercoli) By now you must have guessed that we are close. Yes, we are. In fact we share a wall.
In 2019 I spent two months in India, spending time in Mumbai and Gujarat. This trip included a bucket list location: The Adjunta and Elora Caves. A world Heritage site where you can find incredible cave paintings and sculptures. The works here are inspired by the art and life I experienced in the two months.

One of artist Bhavisha's loves is nature. Her childhood love of Kenya and it's untainted landscape gives Bhavisha a true appreciation for open spaces around her home in the northeast. The artist is known to spontaneously pack her paints and brushes and head for the shore or a grassy knoll when given the opportunity. These moments have created works that are peaceful and introspective.
Beauty in everyday objects, may it be the flowers that grow in your home, or that old vase, glass that shimmers, or the colors of all things together that capture the eye. Being at one and in the now turns our interactions and the experiences of daily life into joy.
Every bodily movement is inspired by an emotion, whether neutral, positive, negative ... and tells the story of the soul behind the shell.
