

NAC 2020 Spring Show
The 2020 Spring Show features woks by long time NAC members Bhavisha Patel, Karen Villarreal. The show is also introducing works by new memberMark Willie.
Mark Willie’s plein air landscapes explore the ambiguities of the natural and the abstract. His drawing, painting, mark-making process emerges through the experience, contemplative or spontaneous, of the environment in which he is engaged. His work is very much part about the physicality of place. Mark Willie is a practicing graphic designer and is Associate Program Director and professor of Graphic Design at Drexel University’s Westphal College. He divides his time between Center City Philadelphia and Greenwich, New Jersey.

Visual Democracy, Art in City Hall
Its Literary Arts Week in Philadelphia and my painting Strawberry Mansion Bridge III, is on display as part of the Visual Democracy, Art in City Hall exhibit. City Hall. Opening reception is May 15h at 6:00 p.m. Room 116.

My painting "Elephant in Urban Jungle" after Henri Rousseau's "Woman Walking In An Exotic Forrest" https://collection.barnesfoundation.org/objects/5517/Woman-Walking-in-an-Exotic-Forest-(Femme-se-promenant-dans-une-foret-exotique)/ will be exhibited at The Barnes Foundation for 2 weeks starting May 21- June 4. Four winners will each receive a 3 month long artist residency and a $1000 a month stipend for supplies.
Artists were invited to create a work of their own in response to a single work of art in the Barnes collection. Now, the public and a team of curators will select four artists to be invited for a residency on-site in the Mural Arts Studio at the Barnes. All votes: the public and the curators will carry equal weight. So, if you are inclined, I’m asking you to please register online first and then go to The Barnes and vote, hopefully for me. The upcoming Naudain Street Art Collaborative Show features works by Priya Patel and Burnell Yow. Priya Patel is a photographer and painter. Burnell Yow is an intuitive artist working in varied medias: painting, collage, assemblage, sculpture, digital art and photography. NAUDAIN STREET ART COLLABORATIVE SHOW
Ageless Gardens will be hosting works of BETSY ALEXANDER & LAUREN SWEENEY - member of the Naudain Street Art Collaborative.
Betsy Alexander is a true renaissance woman. Her art includes crosses made from her collection of church signs and CDs, a series of Alaskan sunsets inspired by webcam photos, photography, jewelry making and assemblage art. Lauren Sweeney is a watercolorist. Her career in scientific illustration and biology evolved into a profession of a full-time painter. She has studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and trained in medical illustration at John Hopkins. Her still life compositions focus on close observation of organic forms of flowering plants, vegetables, seashells and gourds. Her scenic paintings focus on glimpses of domestic interiors, streetscapes or seascapes that capture the essence of the larger scene.
